Invited to Georgie's 50th Surprise Party in April, we decided to drive out and take in Gettysburg, PA on the way back. It is amazing what you don't see in your own region when you live there. Kathleen and I grew up in South Jersey -- a day trip away from Gettysburg, but had never visited it. I set up three nights at a bed and breakfast right on Baltimore Street in Gettysburg, within walking distance of just about everything. It turned out to be a very good trip. The battlefield is awe-inspiring and humbling. A lot of blood was shed by a lot of Americans over that three day battle. Because they sacrificed the American experiment survived.
