These recipes come from Dayna an old Miller associate and  friend.  We worked together at Miller for several years.

CALICO BEANS

1 Lb. Ground Chuck

1/2 Lb. Bacon

1 Cup Chopped Onion

1 Cup Ketchup

3/4 Cup Brown Sugar

2 tsp. Vinegar

1 tsp. Dry Mustard

1 Large Can Bush Pork & Beans

1 Can Mexican Chili Beans

1 Can Butter Beans

Cut bacon into 1-inch pieces and fry until semi-crisp in a large skillet.  Set aside.

Brown ground chuck and onions in leftover bacon grease.

Mix together with the remaining ingredients.  Don’t drain the juice from the bean cans.

Bake in oven in an uncovered roasting pan @ 350 for approximately 40 minutes, stirring every 20 minutes.

(This recipe tastes even better if made a day ahead and refrigerated).

ITALIAN SAUSAGES

Italian Sausages (approx. 2/person)

onions and green peppers

Ketchup

Coke

Brown Italian sausages lightly in frying pan (don’t burn)

Slice onions and green pepper into long, thin slices

Mix equal amounts of Coke and ketchup until you get enough sauce.  (this amount will depend on how many sausages you make).  Bake uncovered in an oven @ 325° for at least 2 hours.  Check on sausages after 1st hour.  They are done when they split apart easily.
